I just received some great news. My middle-grade novel, Broken Bridges, has been accepted for publication by Black Rose Writing. I'm signing the contract today, and I'll learn more soon. I’ll post more information as I receive it.
I’m extremely excited. On Friday evening, I road tripped to Seattle to listen to my favorite author, Kate DiCamillo, present. She’s written the Mercy Watson Series, Tale of Despereaux, Tiger Rising, Because of Winn-Dixie and many other books.
I always mention to other writers that “When I grow I want to write just like her.” Someday right? On Tuesday, we celebrated el dia de los ninos/el dia de los libros (children’s day/book day). I learned about this day when I heard author Pat Mora speak at The Western Washington Literature Conference: http://wwuclc.com/past-conferences/2007-speakers
She mentioned this day in her presentation. Here’s a link from Pat Mora: http://www.patmora.com/whats-dia/. We had an awesome party after school. We had pizza, the children read books with their parents and they whacked piñatas. It was a great turn out, and I had a blast. The children did too. I’m just glad I didn’t get mistaken as a piñata. |
