I had a fabulous weekend at the SCBWI Writer’s Conference. I learned a lot and met some great people. I also ran into some old friends, some I only see once a year. The best news was my picture book manuscript got good reviews and even got referred to an agent. So we’ll see…

Spring break is here! I’m putting on the finishing touches to our school’s yearbook. I’m also reading Lord of the Flies with Emily for her class, fun stuff.
This weekend though, I’m going to the SCBWI’s annual writing conference. This will be my first year with a published novel. I’m also going to shop a picture book manuscript I’ve finished to editors and agents. Hopefully…wish me luck. On Saturday, I ventured north to Bellingham to attend the Western Washington University Literature Conference. This is my seventh year attending. My attention was captivated by four fantastic authors: Nic Bishop, Jennifer Holm, Steve Sheinkin, and Laura Vaccaro Seeger. They spoke of their writing journeys and their work. I also got several books signed, spoke with the authors, and bought books for my classroom.
Quite an inspiration! I want to thank everyone for entering the giveaway for Broken Bridges on Goodreads. I’ll be sending the winners their books in the next day or two.
Congratulations! There were a lot of people who entered, and if they still want to read my book it is available on Amazon or Barns & Noble. It is also available for $1.99 on the Kindle. http://www.amazon.com/Broken-Bridges-Roy-Kindelberger-ebook/dp/B00FHRF1KA/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&sr=8-1&qid=1389591508 Here is the link to my Goodreads profile: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/7227266.Roy_Kindelberger Thanks again for your support! Happy Reading! What a week! In second grade, we had the Presidential Wax Museum. Each child was a different president, and they all dressed up. They sat in chairs and when someone would touch a star sticker on their hand, they’d stand up and give a short speech about that president. The children were awesome.
I had my first school visit at Garfield Elementary School. I spoke with fourth and fifth graders, who had read my book. They asked a lot of great questions, and I got to sign their books. Finally, I did a book signing at JJ Books at Country Village in Bothell. Not only did I get to sign a few books, I got to help some children find books to read. What is really cool is the selection of Hardy Boy and Nancy Drew Books. I almost felt like I worked there. I’m currently submitting a picture book for publication and writing a sequel to Broken Bridges. I want to thank all of the children this week for their inspiration. I have my first classroom visit scheduled at Garfield Elementary, in Everett. It will be Thursday, February, 6th. I’m looking forward to it.
I’ll be at a book signing at J. J. Books in Country Village, on Saturday, February 8th. from 3-5:30. Stop on by for a visit. Here’s the website: http://www.countryvillagebothell.com/
Also they are having a Chocolate Tasting tour and other events. It’s on their website. Thanks! Thanks to everyone who has entered the giveaway for, Broken Bridges, so far. Here’s a link to my Goodreads page:

Okay, it’s 2014. I had a great 2013 writing. I published my first book. I have some big writing plans for this year. I’m excited. Oh, and don’t bite into a rotten apple while driving…it isn’t pretty… |
